Candy AI sells a fantasy that costs four dollars a month, if you read the checkout carefully. Read it less carefully and the same fantasy can cost you $291 a year. That gap, more than any feature, is what this Candy AI review is about.
Candy AI is one of the biggest names in AI girlfriend apps. You build or pick a companion, chat without limits once you pay, and spend tokens on images, video and voice. The product is real and the company behind it is real. The billing rules are where people get hurt, so that's where we spent most of our time.
Legit operator, cheap annual price, unforgiving billing rules
Candy AI is a real, registered business with clear published terms and one of the lowest annual prices in the category. But refunds close after 24 hours, tokens run out quickly, and the short billing cycles are expensive. Buy the annual plan or nothing.
You want unlimited text chat with a custom companion, will pay yearly, and treat tokens as an occasional extra.
You want to try before you commit, need flexible refunds, or plan to generate lots of images, video or voice.
Provisional score, built from Candy AI's own published terms, pricing and help pages plus public user complaints, all checked Oct 7, 2026. Hands-on testing is still pending and will update this score.
What Candy AI is, and who runs it
Candy AI (candy.ai) is an adults-only chat app built around AI companions. Its terms describe it as "an online chat application" that generates fictional characters you can message, and add AI-generated images, videos and voice notes on top. You can chat with ready-made characters or design your own by choosing traits.[1]
The service is owned and operated by EverAI Limited, a company incorporated in Malta, registered with the Malta Business Registry as C107181, at 56 Central Business Centre, Triq Is-Soll, Santa Venera.[1] That matters for two reasons. First, there is a named legal entity you can contact and complain about. Second, the terms are governed by Maltese law, and disputes go to the courts of Malta, wherever you live.[1]
The terms are also blunt about what you're buying. The service is "for entertainment purposes only," it is "not intended as emotional or other forms of support," and anything that sounds like a real-world promise from a character is fiction.[1]
A companion that never sleeps still runs on a billing cycle. Read that part first.
How we reviewed Candy AI
On October 7, 2026 we read Candy AI's Terms of Service (revised September 22, 2026), its Privacy Notice (revised July 30, 2026), its live subscriptions page, and the billing articles in its help center. We then collected public complaints from PissedConsumer and the comment threads under Candy AI's own help articles, and checked its Trustpilot and ScamAdviser listings. Every claim below links to its source.
We haven't yet bought a plan and logged a test month. When we do, this section will show screenshots of checkout, the token balance, image and voice costs, and a real cancellation. Until then, we report only what Candy AI publishes and what users say in public, with no invented test results.
Candy AI pricing and the true yearly cost
Candy AI sells one Premium subscription on five billing terms. Every term gets the same thing: unlimited text messages, 100 tokens a month, custom companions, and 18+ image and video generation.[2] Only the price changes, and it changes a lot.
| Billing term | Advertised | Actually charged | Cost over 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months | $3.99/mo | $47.88 once a year | $47.88 |
| 3 months | $8.99/mo | $26.97 every quarter | $107.88 |
| 1 month | $9.99 first month | then $13.99 monthly | $163.88 in year one |
| Every 2 weeks | n/a | $9.79 every two weeks | $254.54 |
| Weekly | n/a | $5.60 every week | $291.20 |
The annual plan is the clear winner: a full year costs less than four months on the monthly plan. (Our Candy AI pricing guide also covers Premium Plus and token costs.) The weekly option looks small at checkout ($5.60) but adds up to about six times the annual price. If you use Candy AI at all, use it yearly.
Two details in the terms are worth knowing before you pay. All plans renew automatically at the same price and term, and Candy AI may raise prices, though it says it will tell you before a renewal at the higher price. And if your main card fails at renewal, the terms let Candy AI charge a backup payment method you've saved.[1]
"$3.99/month" on the 12-month plan is billed as one $47.88 payment, plus local tax. One PissedConsumer reviewer wrote that they expected $3.99 and were charged $52.[8] We can't confirm the details of that case, but it matches the most common way people misread annual pricing.
How Candy AI tokens work
Paying gets you unlimited chat. Everything visual or audible runs on tokens. Candy AI's help center says subscribers get 100 tokens a month, used for "image generation, video generation, creating custom AIs, and more."[4] A separate article adds voice features and private content packs to the list, and confirms that regular chatting doesn't cost tokens.[5]
- Yearly plans still get tokens monthly. You get 100 per month on your sign-up day, not 1,200 up front.[4]
- Tokens expire, per the terms. Section 10.2 says that when a subscription ends, remaining tokens become unusable and are not refunded or carried over to a new plan.[1] A help article updated Aug 25, 2026 contradicts this, saying cancelling "does NOT delete your tokens."[11] The terms are the binding document, so spend tokens before your period ends. See how to cancel Candy AI.
- Top-ups cost extra. When you run out you are prompted to buy more.[5] Candy AI doesn't publish token-pack prices outside the logged-in app. Unverified We'll add them after our test purchase.
This is where the "$3.99" headline price stops being the whole story. Users on PissedConsumer describe buying a yearly plan and then being asked to pay again to watch content, and disputes over token charges.[8] If images and video are the main reason you want Candy AI, budget for top-ups.
Is Candy AI safe and legit?
Legit: yes, in the sense that matters. A registered company runs it, it publishes complete terms, and it says who will appear on your statement. The candy.ai domain was registered in December 2017, and ScamAdviser rates the site "very likely safe," while noting that the owner's WHOIS details are hidden.[10] We found no regulator or court calling Candy AI a scam. The company record and complaint sources are covered in detail in Is Candy AI legit or a scam?
Safe for your data: that depends on what you share (full breakdown: Is Candy AI safe?). The privacy notice is detailed and reads like real GDPR work: it names a Data Protection Officer and a UK representative.[3] But read these parts before you get personal:
- The terms give EverAI a perpetual, worldwide licence to your content, including to train its AI models and for marketing.[1]
- Interactions can be de-identified and reviewed by humans for training, and message content may go to third-party LLM providers.[3]
- Account data is generally kept for three years after your last activity, and payment records for ten years.[3]
- Candy AI's own terms tell you not to share financial details, addresses, contact information or passwords in chats.[1]
Billing: what is the "EverAI" charge?
If you've found an EverAI charge on your card and don't remember signing up for anything by that name, it's almost certainly Candy AI. The subscriptions page says it plainly: "Charge shown as 'EverAI' on your bank statement."[2] Candy AI processes payments through several providers, including Emerchantpay, TrustPay, Volt and CoinGate, according to its privacy notice.[3]
If the charge wasn't yours, contact [email protected] first and your bank second. Know the trade-off, though: under the terms, filing a chargeback immediately cancels your subscription and revokes any remaining tokens.[1] Step-by-step instructions, including common charge amounts, are in our EverAI charge guide.
Candy AI refund policy and how to cancel
How to cancel
- Log in to Candy AI.
- Open My Profile, then Settings.
- Scroll to your subscription details and tap Unsubscribe, then confirm.[6]
Your plan stays active until the end of the current period, and you won't be charged again.[1] One commenter under the help article said the Unsubscribe button wasn't visible in their phone browser and only "Delete Account" appeared.[6] If that happens to you, try a desktop browser before deleting anything, and keep the confirmation email.
Refund rules
| Purchase | Window | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | 24 hours | Denied if more than 20 tokens used; card payments only; no refund for "technical issues on the user's side" |
| Token pack | 24 hours | Denied if the tokens were used; card payments only |
| EU / UK residents | 14 days | First purchase only (not renewals); refund minus a prorated amount for service used |
That is a tight window. In practice: if you're unsure, don't buy, because the annual plan's low price is only a bargain if you keep it.
What Candy AI users report
Public feedback is thin and skews negative, which is normal for subscription apps. Unhappy customers write reviews; happy ones mostly don't. Here is what we could verify:
- PissedConsumer: 1.7 out of 5 from 17 reviews (page updated Oct 4, 2026). Recurring themes are billing problems, refund delays, subscriptions not activating, account access, and hard-to-reach support. A few reviewers praise the stories and visuals.[8]
- Candy AI's own help center: comments under the refund article include users saying their refund requests went unanswered, and two say a paid plan didn't activate.[7]
- Trustpilot: on Oct 7, 2026, Candy AI's Trustpilot page said the profile "has been removed" because the business "goes against our guidelines."[9] Trustpilot doesn't say why, so we don't guess.
- Reddit: Candy AI is discussed in subreddits such as r/Chatbots and r/AIGirlfriendReviews. We'll summarize specific threads with links once we've reviewed them in full.
Seventeen reviews is a small sample, so treat this as a list of risks, not a verdict on how common they are.
What we like
- Annual plan works out to $3.99 a month ($47.88 billed once)

- Real, registered operator: EverAI Limited, Malta (C107181)
