People search "is Candy AI a scam" for two different reasons. Some are about to pay and want to know the money goes somewhere real. Others have already paid, found a charge called "EverAI" on their statement, and are wondering what happened. This guide answers both, using public records rather than opinions: the Malta company register, the domain record, the site's own legal documents, and what users have posted in public.

Short answer

Candy AI is a legitimate business, not a scam. It's run by EverAI Limited, an active Malta company, and it publishes its prices, billing name and refund rules. We found no regulator or court calling it a scam. The real risks are a 24-hour refund window, hidden token prices, and public complaints about billing and unanswered refund requests. Pay for it like you'd pay for any subscription with strict terms: carefully.

Who is behind Candy AI?

Candy AI's terms name the operator as EverAI Limited, a company incorporated in Malta with registration number C107181 and an address at 56 Central Business Centre, Triq Is-Soll, Santa Venera SVR 1833.[1] EverAI's own website calls itself a company "building the future of AI companionship," describes a fully remote team "scaling fast towards 500M users," and gives [email protected] as its contact. It refers to "our flagship product" without naming Candy AI.[3]

The privacy notice names a Data Protection Officer ([email protected]) and a UK representative, Shoosmiths Privacy Services Limited.[11] Fly-by-night operations rarely appoint either.

What the Malta company register shows

We checked EverAI Limited on Overit, a directory built from Malta's official public registers (data retrieved Aug 22, 2026):[2]

Three things stand out. First, the company matches the name, number and address in Candy AI's terms exactly, which is what you'd expect from a real operator. Second, it's young: incorporated in December 2023, six years after the candy.ai domain was first registered (see below). We couldn't establish who ran candy.ai before EverAI. Unverified Third, 21 other companies share the same registered office, including one called EverAI Holding LTD. (C 107071). Overit points out that a shared office usually means a shared corporate service provider, and "is not evidence of common ownership." We haven't verified who owns either company.

Overit holding no financial statements is a fact about what's published, not a red flag. Overit says so itself: young companies often have few filings.[2]

Domain and website safety checks

  • ScamAdviser gives candy.ai a trust score of 100, "very likely safe," and concludes "we think candy.ai is legit and safe for consumers to access." It lists a WHOIS registration date of December 16, 2017, high traffic, a valid SSL certificate and payment methods that offer "money back services." Its negatives: the owner is hidden on WHOIS, and reviews are "either very positive or negative," a pattern ScamAdviser says it sometimes sees with fake reviews.[5]
  • Trustpilot has no reviews to read. The candy.ai page says the profile "has been removed" because the business "goes against our guidelines."[6] Trustpilot doesn't say which guideline. The same notice appears on OurDream AI's profile, so it isn't unique to Candy AI.

Automated trust scores measure whether a website looks like a fraud: domain age, traffic, SSL, payment methods. They don't measure whether refunds get answered. Use them to rule out fake shops, not to judge customer service.

What Candy AI discloses up front

Scam sites hide who they are and what they'll charge. Candy AI publishes:

  • Every price on a public subscriptions page, including the weekly and two-week terms most people should avoid.[4] See our Candy AI pricing guide for the yearly math.
  • Its billing name: "Charge shown as 'EverAI' on your bank statement."[4]
  • Its refund rules, strict as they are: 24 hours, card payments only, 20 tokens maximum used.[1]
  • How to cancel, in the help center: My Profile → Settings → Unsubscribe.[10]

What it doesn't publish: token-pack prices, the token cost of each feature, and the price of its newer Premium Plus tier. Unverified That's the biggest transparency gap we found, and it's where many complaints start.

What users complain about

We only report complaints we can link to. Here's what's public as of October 7, 2026:

  • PissedConsumer: 1.7 out of 5 from 17 reviews (updated Oct 4, 2026). Themes include billing problems, refund delays, subscriptions not activating, account access and hard-to-reach support.[7]
  • Candy AI's own help center: the refund article has 8 public comments. They include users saying a refund request went unanswered ("Would be nice if you actually respond to the refund request"), and two saying a paid plan didn't activate, one by card and one by UPI.[8] The payment-methods article has similar comments about Premium not activating.[9]
  • Cancellation: one commenter says only "Delete Account" appeared in a mobile browser, with no Unsubscribe button.[10]
  • Charged after deleting an account: Candy AI has a help article titled "I've deleted my account. Why do you keep on charging me?" Its answer: deleting before renewal cancels the subscription too, and if you're still charged, email [email protected] with your account email and the last four digits of the card.[12] That the article exists suggests the question comes up.
  • Reddit: Candy AI and the EverAI charge are discussed on Reddit, including r/Scams. We couldn't load those threads to read them in full, so we don't summarize them.

Seventeen reviews and a handful of comments is a small sample, and unhappy customers post more than happy ones. Read this as a list of risks to plan for, not as a measure of how often they happen.

Our summary of the sources on this page, Oct 7, 2026.

On the evidence, "scam" is the wrong word. A scam takes money and delivers nothing, or hides who it is. Candy AI names its company, shows its prices and delivers a working product. "Strict and opaque in places" is the accurate description: tight refunds, hidden token pricing, and support that some users say doesn't answer. Our Is Candy AI safe? guide covers the privacy side in detail.

Is Candy AI real?

The company and the service are real; the companions aren't people. Candy AI's terms say the AI characters "do not possess genuine emotions, intentions, or the ability to fulfill promises in the real world," and that any offer of a real-life meeting should be treated as fiction.[1] If anything claiming to be a Candy AI character asks you for money outside the app, it isn't Candy AI.

Is Candy AI good, and is it worth it?

Legit doesn't automatically mean good value. At $47.88 a year for unlimited text chat, Candy AI is one of the cheapest adult companion subscriptions we've priced. If you want images, video and voice, 100 tokens a month and hidden top-up prices make it harder to recommend. Our full Candy AI review gives it a provisional 5.6/10, and our Candy AI alternatives compare it with apps that include more credits.

How to protect yourself if you use Candy AI

  1. Start with the 5 free messages, then the $9.99 first month if you're unsure.
  2. Note the time you pay. Refund requests close 24 hours later.
  3. Use 20 tokens or fewer until you've decided to keep it.
  4. Pay by card if a refund matters to you; other methods aren't refundable under the terms.[1]
  5. Cancel on desktop if the Unsubscribe button is missing on mobile, and screenshot the confirmation.
  6. Look for "EverAI" on your statement. Our EverAI charge guide explains what to do if you see it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Candy AI legit?

Yes, in the sense that a registered company runs it and delivers what it sells. Candy AI is operated by EverAI Limited, an active Malta company (C 107181) registered on Dec 14, 2023. It publishes full terms, a GDPR privacy notice, its prices and its billing name. ScamAdviser rates candy.ai "very likely safe" with a trust score of 100.

Is Candy AI a scam?

We found no regulator, court or consumer authority calling Candy AI a scam. What we did find: billing and refund complaints on PissedConsumer (1.7/5 from 17 reviews), unanswered refund requests in comments on Candy AI's own help center, and a Trustpilot profile removed for going "against our guidelines" without a public reason. Those are service and billing risks, not evidence of fraud.

Is Candy AI real?

The company and the service are real. The characters are not: Candy AI's terms say the AI characters "do not possess genuine emotions, intentions, or the ability to fulfill promises in the real world," and any offer of a real-life meeting is fiction.

Is Candy.ai trustworthy?

Trustworthy enough to pay, if you pay carefully. It discloses its prices, its billing name ("EverAI") and its refund rules up front. But the refund window is only 24 hours, and its privacy notice lets third-party AI providers receive your message content. Use the annual plan only if you're sure, and keep personal details out of chats.

Why was Candy AI removed from Trustpilot?

Trustpilot's candy.ai page says the profile "has been removed" because the business "goes against our guidelines." Trustpilot doesn't say which guideline, and we don't guess. OurDream AI's profile shows the same notice.

Is Candy AI good, and is it worth it?

For text chat on the $47.88 annual plan, it's one of the cheapest adult companion subscriptions we've priced. For images, video and voice it's weaker value, because Premium includes only 100 tokens a month and top-up prices aren't public. Our provisional review score is 5.6/10.

What is the EverAI charge?

EverAI is the billing name for Candy AI. The subscriptions page says: "Charge shown as 'EverAI' on your bank statement." The company behind it is EverAI Limited in Santa Venera, Malta.
