Joi AI has a free Basic tier, a paid Premium plan and a public catalog of characters.^[12] Adult content runs on a second currency: its terms say romantic, erotic or explicit messages use Neurons, and "one romantic message costs 4 neurons to be read."^[12]

Janitor AI is the best-known free option for NSFW text roleplay. Its free tier includes "unlimited chats with millions of bots" on its own model with about 9k tokens of context, and it says it "will always keep a free option."^[14] Adult bots are allowed on the website; the mobile app starts in a Safe Mode that hides NSFW until you change a setting on the website.^[15]
