"Worth it" depends on what you plan to do. Candy AI can be one of the cheapest AI girlfriend apps you'll find, or a steady drip of top-ups, and the difference comes down to two choices: billing term and how much you use tokens. Here's what it costs in practice, what people complain about in public, and our verdict for different kinds of users.
Worth it if you mainly chat and pay yearly. $47.88 a year buys unlimited text with a custom companion and 100 tokens a month. Not worth it if you want lots of images, video or voice: those run on tokens, top-up prices are hidden until you log in, and users report spending several times the subscription. The 24-hour refund window means you should decide before you pay, not after.

What does Candy AI actually cost?
The subscription is cheap if you choose well. Every term buys the same Premium features: unlimited text, custom companions, 18+ image and video generation, and 100 tokens a month.[1]
| Plan | Charged | Cost over 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| 12 months | $47.88 once ($3.99/mo) | $47.88 |
| 3 months | $26.97 per quarter ($8.99/mo) | $107.88 |
| 1 month | $9.99 first month, then $13.99 | $163.88 |
| Every 2 weeks | $9.79 | $254.54 |
| Weekly | $5.60 | $291.20 |
On price alone, the annual plan is hard to beat. It's less than half of the cheapest annual plans we've checked among rivals, such as Nomi at $99.99 on the App Store and OurDream AI at $119.88.[2][3] The weekly plan, by contrast, costs six times as much over a year for the same features.
Where tokens change the answer
Paying gets you unlimited chat. Images, video, voice and private content packs use tokens, and Premium includes 100 a month.[4] Candy AI describes 200 tokens as "a $20 value," which puts a token at about 10 cents.[5] It doesn't publish token-pack prices or most per-feature costs outside the logged-in app. Unverified
Users who track their spending describe the gap between sticker price and real cost:
- A Reddit user in r/techforlife wrote that over five months they spent $65 on subscriptions and $122 on token packs, "about $37 per month total," using it three or four times a week.[6] Their conclusion: "Is it a rip-off? No," but budget $30 to $40 a month if you use the features.
- In a thread on r/AIGirlfriendsReviews titled "the hidden costs nobody warns you about," commenters complain that image generation doesn't always follow prompts, so tokens get spent on unusable results.[7]
- On PissedConsumer, a reviewer says they bought a $47 plan and then couldn't watch Candy's short videos without tokens.[8]
These are individual accounts, not our measurements. Note too that some replies in these Reddit threads promote competing apps, so we've cited only first-hand spending reports. The pattern is consistent, though: the subscription is the entry fee, and tokens are the variable cost.
We haven't yet logged a paid month with token usage. When we do, we'll publish what 100 tokens actually bought, with screenshots and dates.
Candy AI complaints: what users report
We checked the places where Candy AI users post complaints publicly. Here's what each shows, with the source:
| Complaint | Where reported | What Candy AI's rules say |
|---|---|---|
| Refund requests unanswered | Comments under Candy AI's own refund article (Oct 2025 to Mar 2026); PissedConsumer | Refunds only within 24 h, card only, 20 tokens max |
| Paid plan didn't activate | Refund article comments (Mar and Jul 2026) | No specific policy published |
| Token costs on top of Premium | Reddit, PissedConsumer | Disclosed: Premium includes 100 tokens/month |
| Couldn't find Unsubscribe; deleted account instead | Comment under cancellation article (Feb 2026) | Cancel via Settings → Unsubscribe; deletion also cancels |
| Annual charge larger than expected | PissedConsumer | "$3.99/mo" is billed as $47.88 plus local tax |
Under Candy AI's "Am I eligible for a refund?" help article, users have written that they applied within an hour and hadn't been refunded, that nearly 24 hours passed without a reply, and that a one-month and a three-month plan were paid for but not activated.[9] On PissedConsumer, Candy AI averages 1.7 out of 5 from 17 reviews, with billing, refund delays, activation and support response as the main themes; a few reviewers praise the visuals and stories.[8]
Trustpilot isn't available as a check. On Oct 7, 2026, Candy AI's profile there said it "has been removed" because the business "goes against our guidelines," without saying why.[10] We don't speculate about the reason.
Keep the sample size in mind. Seventeen PissedConsumer reviews and a few dozen comments say little about how common these problems are. They do tell you which risks to plan for.
What Candy AI does well
What we like
- Lowest annual price we have found in the category: $47.88
- Unlimited text chat on every paid plan; chatting doesn't use tokens
- Named, registered operator: EverAI Limited, Malta (C107181)
- Billing name disclosed up front ("EverAI")
- Cancel any time in Settings and keep access to the end of the period
What to watch
- Only 100 tokens a month; top-up prices hidden until login
- 24-hour refund window that closes after 20 tokens
- Weekly and two-week plans cost up to 6x the annual plan
- Public complaints about refunds, activation and support
- Terms and help center disagree on whether tokens survive cancellation
The last point matters if you're thinking about cancelling. The Terms of Service say remaining tokens expire when your paid period ends, while a help article updated Aug 25, 2026 says cancelling "does NOT delete your tokens."[11][12] Until Candy AI fixes the conflict, assume the stricter rule.
Is Candy AI worth it for you?
| If you… | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mostly want text chat with one companion | Worth it (annual plan) | $3.99/mo for unlimited chat is the category's lowest price |
| Want occasional images | Probably worth it | 100 tokens/month covers light use |
| Want daily images, video or voice | Budget carefully | Users report $30+ a month after top-ups |
| Want to try before committing | Use the $9.99 month | Refunds close after 24 hours |
| Need flexible refunds | Skip | No refund after 24 hours or 20 tokens |
Our provisional score is 5.6 out of 10, explained in the full Candy AI review. That's a legit operator with a great annual price, pulled down by strict refunds and a token meter that's easy to underestimate.
Is there better value elsewhere?
If tokens are the sticking point, OurDream AI costs more ($119.88 a year) but includes 1,000 dreamcoins a month and publishes the price of every feature, so you can budget before you pay.[3] If you want to try without a card, Nomi says it's free to start.[2] Our Candy AI alternatives guide compares them all, and if you've already decided to leave, here's how to cancel Candy AI.
Frequently asked questions
Is Candy AI worth it?
For text chat on the annual plan, yes: $47.88 a year buys unlimited messages with a custom companion. For heavy image, video and voice use it is harder to justify, because Premium includes only 100 tokens a month and users report spending far more on top-ups.
How much does Candy AI really cost per month?
The subscription costs $3.99 a month on the annual plan, $8.99 on quarterly or $13.99 on monthly after a $9.99 first month. Token top-ups come on top. One Reddit user who tracked spending reported about $37 a month over five months including token packs.
What are the most common Candy AI complaints?
In public reviews and comments we checked, the recurring complaints are token costs on top of Premium, refund requests going unanswered, paid plans not activating, the short 24-hour refund window, and memory or image results that do not match prompts.
Is Candy AI better than OurDream AI?
It is cheaper per year ($47.88 vs $119.88), but OurDream includes 1,000 dreamcoins a month against Candy AI's 100 tokens and publishes what each feature costs. Text-first users get more value from Candy AI; media-heavy users may get more from OurDream.
Is Candy AI a scam?
We found no regulator or court calling it a scam. It is run by EverAI Limited, a registered Malta company, and publishes full terms and its billing name. The complaints are about billing friction and value, not about a fake service.
Who should not pay for Candy AI?
Anyone who wants to try before committing for long, who needs a flexible refund policy, or who mainly wants images, video and voice. The refund window closes 24 hours after payment and after 20 tokens are used.
